Safeguarding

St Mary’s CE Primary School Safeguarding Children Statement

At St. Mary’s the health and safety of all children is of paramount importance.

Parents send their children to school each day with the expectation that school provides a secure environment in which their children can flourish. St. Mary’s therefore has to ensure that this expectation becomes reality. In order to do this a wide range of measures are put in place. This page shares our key documents that explain how as a school we are keeping children safe and provides links to additional resources to support families at home.

If you have any concerns related to safeguarding or child protection, please speak with one of the following people:

Mrs Bethan Scriven, Headteacher - Designated Lead Safeguarding Officer

Mrs Natalie Lane - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer

If your concerns relate to any of the above people please contact the Chair of Governors Mr Charlie de Nobriga via email: office@stmarysyate.org.uk (FAO Charlie de Nobriga) or contact the local Safeguarding team (ART) on 01454 866000 or the Local Authority Designated Officer, Tina Wilson, on 01454 863377.

Self harm

As a school we follow the guidance from the NSPCC for primary aged children. This link provides resources and strategies to support children who are at risk of self harm.

In school we ensure that the children's mental health and well being are catered for through  pastoral care, guidance and provision for those children who may be vulnerable.
